"...The owners, arrived in Edinburgh from the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv in 2022. “The cafe was our way of bridging cultures and bringing people together,” they tell me. Within minutes of sitting down, the table groans under bowls of steaming borscht, plates piled high with dumplings, and deruny (crisp golden potato pancakes drenched in parmesan sauce). Just as I think I can’t manage another bite, out comes the grand finale: syrnyky – sweet curd-cheese pancakes swimming in velvety berry juice – exquisite!"

MOST IMPORTANTLY: CUSTOMER IMPRESSIONS

Stopped by for breakfast by pure chance, originally planning to order a Full Scottish breakfast - but once inside, I couldn’t leave without trying the sirnyky. And honestly, I’m glad I did!!

Everything was absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. The experience was so good that I came back later the same day for lunch and ordered the borscht.

The menu offers a great variety of both food and drinks, but what really makes this place special is the atmosphere created by the people working there - attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring.

Very easy to recommend this place.

Feels like home for those who are from Ukraine. Great ingredients, no compromise on quality. Friendly staff.
A wonderful choice for brunches and lunches: they have local traditional food options too.

I meant to come to this café for a couple years now, and today wasn't too busy which I'm really glad it wasn't so I could finally try it. It did not disappoint. It was very delightful, quaint and diligent service. And the food was top notch! Can't wait to come back.

A lovely café—warm and inviting, with good coffee (though I have high standards when it comes to that). It serves British and Scottish fare, but it’s the traditional Ukrainian food you really want. It’s simply fantastic. I tried my favourites, borscht and holubtsi (stuffed cabbage rolls), and both were delicious. Everything is freshly made using high-quality, well-sourced ingredients.

What a lovely cafe in Edinburgh, the staff were so welcoming and attentive. We had lattes, Syrniki , cherry dumplings and Kyiv cake and it was all so delicious. The food was definitely a taste of home away from home for those missing Ukrainian cuisine. A must try in general!
